This event has passed.

Designed for performers and non-performers alike, this four hour workshop taught by acclaimed clowns Avner the Eccentric & Iman Lizarazu the will expand your ability to create, and promote your capacity to solve problems in unusual ways. For performers, these workshops will help you build complicity with the audience, and give you fresh ideas for new material and expanding your existing work. Non-performers who would benefit from these events include public speakers, teachers, lawyers, and anyone who deals with the public. These workshops are intended to enrich and enhance each participant’s outlook and imagination.

This workshop is limited to 20 students max. 4 hours (11am - 3pm).

Avner is one of the world’s leading teachers of physical comedy. He is on the permanent faculty of the Celebration Barn Theater, Maine’s International School for the Performing Arts. He has taught Eccentric Performing and Clown workshops in the US, Switzerland, France, Germany, Finland, Spain, Mexico, and Japan. Avner graduated from École Jacques Lecoq in Paris. You may even recognize him as the Jewel from the movie, The Jewel of the Nile. Avner has been performing his one-man show, Exceptions to Gravity, for over 30 years.

Iman, like no other, is a World Master and Teacher of Eccentric Performing, Circus Arts, and Commedia dell’Arte. She is a photographer, a painter, a conceptual artist and a vaudeville performer. She’s even a singer, though she admits she can’t sing very well, but does it anyway. But that’s not even the interesting part. She was born and reared in the Basque region between France and Spain in a family of winemakers, but also lived in Moscow as a teen, as her father was artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet. She attended art school in Dresden and Berlin, studied mime with Marcel Marceau in Paris and — you gotta be kidding me — even earned a doctorate in astrophysics from the Max Planck Institute in Munich.
